Art + Cognitive Science??

Hey, I'm new here and have a question! Can art and cognitive science ever be together?

I'm going to be a senior at UCSD this year and I'm double majoring in Vis Art (emphasis in film) and minoring in cog sci. I'd actually like to double major because to be honest, this is a much better science school than art, and my art education has been aggravatingly post-modern and directionless. I enjoy cognitive science, but do not picture myself going into research, though maybe I'd enjoy art therapy as a career. I am also considering speech therapy.

I originally wanted to do animation for a LONG time, and I have pretty refined technical drawing ability. Can I justify a double major financially speaking? I would do so for the sake of my changing mind and to keep my options for a career open. Is it feasible to build up my portfolio and transfer to perhaps Cal Arts for my masters? Advice would be much appreciated.

You can major, double major, and minor or double minor and major in anything, just be aware of your time constraints and financial constraints. Usually taking up two different majors in two different departments/colleges will mean different requirements.

I think in art there are all these pre-reqs to even get to take upper division courses, ie the foundations(life drawing, 2d desing, 3d design, etc) for something like Cog Science I imagine there are pre-reqs like(bio, etc), wh ich means more pre-reqs or lower division work that you need to complete before you ever start seeing upper division courses in either field.
