I’m a junior and am looking into two Cal State universities but I’m out of state and am not familiar with the whole A-G system. I’m not very artsy so I didn’t take art classes. I can only fit one half-year course of art into my schedule next year and would really prefer not to even go there. Is this an automatic disqualifier or is there a way around it, I’ve taken business and agriscience courses, but I’m just not artistically gifted.
If you do not meet the Cal state requirements of 1 year of Visual or Peforming arts, yes your application will not be considered. My younger son took a computer based graphic design class which fulfilled the requirement. Have you looked for a on-line course that would meet the requirement or possibly a class at your local CCC this summer? A 6 week CCC class would be considered a year long class for Cal State admission purposes.
You can also self-study and pass the AP Art History or Music Theory exams for credit.
