Art History at Stanford (Transfer)

Hello! I am currently a freshman at USC, but I’m having my doubts about it. I am keeping an open mind toward staying here, as I know I haven’t been here very long – but truthfully, I really do wish I’d applied to Stanford as a freshman, and it’s my top choice if I do end up deciding to transfer schools.

One primary factor in my consideration is the strength of Stanford’s Art History program, as that would be my intended major. I’ve done a lot of research but haven’t really been able to find any solid information on how good the program is – or on how good it is compared to USC’s program.

As to when I would transfer – frankly, I would be fine switching in at the beginning of my sophomore year, but I may have to wait until the beginning of my junior year for a number of reasons (namely, financial aid and not wanting to seem hasty in my decision).

I would love to hear any advice or comments you have to offer!

Thank you so much!!

It’s been a long time since I wrote this, but I definitely still feel the same. I’ve had a good first year at USC, but I honestly believe that the rest of my time (junior and senior year) would be best spent someplace where I felt like I had more opportunities in Art History.

So – do any of you have thoughts on Art History at Stanford? (For reference, the other schools I’m looking into are Reed, Smith, and University of Chicago. I’m also considering a Biology minor, but that’s secondary to the Art History factor).

Thank you!
