Art History - Finding the best school

I want to major in art history, and eventually get a PhD. Any reccomendations as to which university has the best program?? Best Texas Art History universities (in-state tuition!)?

Many of the schools on this thread are a good place to start. It ranks PhD programs, but it's a place to start. Also, notice where people who get into the best programs go. it's an interesting place to look (you can see this on the art history web sites at the various schools).

You should focus on where you will fit in and then check into the deparments you are interested in. Where you can get a solid undergrad education is as important as the strength of the department (and largely determines it for your purposes).
