I signed up for the American Icons and Monuments FYWS, and I saw that so far the 10 spots made available were filled. I know that that means there'll be 5 more in the next round of enrollments, but I wanted to see if anyone else who had signed up was on here! It wasn't my first choice and, to be honest, it was the only other open one that would fit in my schedule, but I just wanted to see if I'd be with some hardcore Art History people, or what!

So, if you've signed up, or if you plan to sign up next week, please feel free to reply here!

Haha, I'm really nervous about going to Vandy, I love it, but I don't know anyone else going!

SusieAnne, congrats on your admission. You will find Vandy is a very friendly community. No one wants you to fail or even stumble…and just about everyone graduates on time. Plus you get many small classes compared to your state flagship colleges on a campus that is expansive and not claustrophic. Many “brave” kids coming in from far far away. (our kid had parents who used to live in Nashville, so he had less risk/strangeness to wonder about.)

You will likely be writing essays but the specific topic choice may be dovetailed to an angle you choose yourself and enjoy researching and writing about. There are people in place to look at your drafts and to give you feedback along the way. In all likelihood, this seminar will be really enjoyable and one of those “liberal artsy” memories from your Vanderbilt years. enjoy!

@SusieAnne You are in the majority, most 1st year students at Vandy don’t know anyone else going there. You will be fine.
