Art history major, transfer from NYU to Columbia?

Hey guys,

I'm currently a sophomore in NYU and I'm thinking about transferring to Columbia. I have a 3.86 cumulative GPA but my SAT scores are relatively unsatisfactory, only 2100 the highest, with 2180 being the sum of the best scores I have on each section. I don't really have any awesome activities that I can show off to schools, but I studied abroad in London during my freshman year and volunteered in Seeds of Peace UK and some other local programs. I'm currently interning in one New York gallery. I am an art history major, and it seems that NYU really has a strong undergraduate department (or partly because of its affiliation with NYU Institute of Fine Art). However, Columbia also seems to offer a really great art history education, and the school is great. Do you guys think it's worthy to transfer? Do I have a good chance? Also, I am an international student without US citizenship, will that have a huge influence?

I'm also considering Harvard, Yale, Amherst, and Williams. Of course, everybody wants to go to these schools, but the reason that I chose these school is that they get pretty great funding in their art history departments, unlike NYU, and have smaller classes, one huge attraction to me. I think I can get a great Yale recommendation, from one quite famous alumni, but I'm still worrying that my SAT score would put me in the "rejection" pile. Have any of you guys had this kind of experience before?

As a jr transfer, your SAT scores will be weighted less and more emphasis will be placed on how you did in college. That said, all of these schools are highly competitive, particularly for Intl. applicants. You can apply, but if you really want to leave NYU, you should have other less selective colleges as well.
