Art History Transfer

I wouldn't reach out if I didn't feel desperate for some advice...

I am a Sophomore at Wheaton College (IL) and hoping to transfer to a regular four-year liberal science program next fall, preferably on the east coast. The problem is that I haven't completed any applications yet, and March 1st deadlines have already passed me by.

I want to attend an academically rigorous program as I have intentions of pursuing a masters degree in art history and going into museum studies. I want to leave Wheaton most significantly because there is virtually no art history program there... It is also lacking an art community and resources to the art world.

I'd prefer somewhere urban that has decent financial aid opportunities for transfers.

Maybe it's too late to be asking these questions for admission into a program next fall. I'm starting to feel pretty cornered, but would appreciate any outside advice.

There are some schools with March 15 or later deadlines, or are rolling admissions, however this is late to be starting to consider transferring. Many of the top schools, the ones that tend to have better FA for transfers, require 2 years in residence and some will not take transfers with too many units.

Why don’t you just plan now to take a year off, volunteer or intern at a museum/gallery or other business related to your interest, and work on your transfer app. list? That way you would have more time to consider your options, and create a better list.

You don’t give us stats, but Williams (not urban) has a very top art history program and great aid.
