I was wondering if i could send in an art portfolio, not as an art student, but submit it as an extra curricular. If i can, i was wondering what should include, I'm a junior so I'm guessing it would take about a year to create a portfolio? I'm also doing a recording of piano recording to send in, and possibly flute. Can i send in both a portfolio and a recording?

I have the same idea too. I’ve took business major, decided to go in to film major. So I took film classes last semester. I took lighting class, news class and done my 1st a film. I’m trying to get in to film school, but art would be my second choice. This because I’ve been doing painting since like 7. Hopefully I can make a good portfolio. What school are you trying to apply?

An art portfolio would not in and of itself be an extracurricular, though it could serve to flesh out art-related ECs (clubs, private lessons, awards won).

I’m confused by this statement. If you’re interested in sending in an art portfolio, I assume art is a fundamental part of your life and of your routine. This being the case, you should already have several pieces ready for a portfolio. Junior year should be one of addition to, not creation of, this portfolio.

As for recordings, you are welcome to submit supplemental materials, but you’re generally advised against it unless you’re excellent (ie, unless it would make a substantial difference regarding acceptance). Are you really fantastic at art, piano, *and *flute? If not, you’re wasting the adcoms’ time (and even if you are, I’d recommend picking only one to supplement your app–adcoms are busy people).
