Art scholarship

D received a letter of congrats for receiving arts scholarship. Then paragraph #2 goes on to explain this scholarship is contingent on being accepted to the college! If we didn't love this school sooo much it would be a turn off. Anyone else receive this? Do you think this is a likely letter or do you think the art dept sends out these letters with no knowledge of what the admissions dept is thinking???? We don't know what to expect. Paragraph #3 goes on to explain D can expect a decision by 4/1.

I think it would mean that whatever she presented to the arts department for the scholarship was deemed to represent strong talent, but they can only speak for their department... they can't influence the academic acceptance decision. That being said, when our daughter received a talent scholarship last year, it didn't come until after the academic acceptance from the school. Merit scholarships came a few days after academic acceptance letter. And Muhlenberg's acceptance was the last correspondence from any school last year (came right around 4/1). I suspect it's because they have such a late ED deadline (mid February?), so they can't begin to filter through the RD applications until they know how many EDs they have to honor. I just posted on another thread that 60% of this year's freshman class was ED. That's huge!
