GUYS I NEED UR ADVICES!!
i’m an international applicant, applied for fashion design.
i got accepted for two schools and waiting for one. i’m having trouble choosing.
my dream is to starting my own fashion brand in sophomore ~ junior.
accepted - PRATT without scholarship
accepted - OTIS with merit-based scholarship $60,000/4yrs
waiting - FIT(less tuition)
Speaking of Otis, actually i had lived in LA for an year and i absolutely love the city all my friends are there
and i got scholarship so it would be less burdensome.
and Pratt, which is my top choice among these three schools, is top ranked in US art schools. and it gives me like the most artsy image lol… i only visited nyc bklyn area once for travel last yr and i loved it… But i feel like fashion design major is less famous than Parsons and FIT.
and if i got accepted for FIT, it’ll be so hard choosing since its fashion school. plus FIT’s tuition is inexpensive.
Which school should i get in? and i wanna know these school’s reputation and people’s thought.
Any advice would be appreciated!!
I know two people who attend FIT for fashion and they LOVE it. Their parents are very impressed with the school, the program, and the incredible opportunities that are available for internships. I don’t know specifics, but they are very pleased. The OOS tuition is much more affordable then private art schools. I would say go with the lowest cost because you have great options and there is no point spending more than you have to.
@orcenurse
I second @sbgal2011. My D is also considering Pratt & FIT but for digital art. If she were considering them for fashion, I’d urge her to choose FIT. I love the vibe there. The students there seem to know what they want to do with themselves (as do you) and you can’t beat the price.
@sbgal2011 wow, i cant just ignore their internship programs. i was somehow concerning about their quality of education but it is great school with opportunities. Thank you for your advice!!!
@NYart15 S got the large envelope with congratulations on it today. We are in CT. One of his friends also got acceptance today, but third friend did not anything today. No FA info and portal was down.
@magnetnh
Yes! I’ve been trying the portal…nothing. No snail mail. We’re in Westchester. So frustrating. They don’t give enough time between admissions notifications and May 1 acceptance deadline.
Hi all! I’m relatively new to these forums. DD got accepted to Pratt MWP, SAIC, SCAD, UIC( safe choice), waitlisted for Pratt. Almost decided to go to SCAD Atlanta for BFA in Interior Design. Any one else here who is going to SCAD? Their Spring House doesn’t look very promising so we are thinking off campus housing nearby( there a quite a few). Anyone else thinking on those lines? Any suggestions on how to connect with prospective students looking for same? Thanks.
@Killerbees18 My son got rejection from CalArts yesterday. He is very disappointed. Most likely(95%) he will go to Ringling. We re doing some last second research on Ringling and Art Center just to make sure.
@smile_in my D16 is a sophomore at SCAD right now but she’s in Savannah. There should be a SCAD facebook page for students looking for off campus housing. Can’t link as that’s against the TOS. Let me know if you have any questions about the school. We don’t know much about the Atlanta campus but I’d be happy to answer anything I can. BTW, there is also a parent FB page once your Bee enrolls.
@JBStillFlying …what does ur DD think of her major and the faculty? Do you think there are any major differences in the facilities academically between Savannah and Atlanta?
@smile_in my D is in Animation and has no plans to transfer to Atlanta. I understand that’s it’s possible to complete this major in either location, however. I’m guessing the facilities in Atlanta for animation are pretty much the same as Savannah’s. D16 loves the faculty and is getting to know the animation faculty at this time.
@AskExperts Aw, sorry about CalArts (most of the freshman there are probably 20+ anyway), but your son has some great other options Hope to see him at Ringling! I’ve been talking to some of the students I’ve met in the Facebook group ever since I sent in my enrollment deposit and everyone’s just so amazing.
