I went to a university a state over for one semester. I hated it and I ended up getting hurt and having to take medical leave. Over the last 4 years I have had a lot of medical issues and hopefully this summer at Mayo Clinic i’ll get them resolved. After recognizing a regular university wasn’t for me I took some classes at SAIC and loved them. I’d like to go to art school for photography (and perhaps film) but I haven’t actually been in school for about 3 years. What are some art schools that will take me or that are easier to get into? I have a good portfolio and the cost doesn’t matter, just my grades are poor due to LOTS of health issues over the last few years.
I’m 22 years old and i’ve completed about 20 credits. I want to go to art school because I do creative things all day long. i’m not meant for a regular college, i’m happy i know that now, better late than never.
You should fepost this in the art majors forum. It is inside the college majors forum.
Art school admission is promarily portfolio based. Your grades aren’t likely to matter very much.
Good luck at the Mayo. That is a great place with lots of beautiful art for you to practice your photographic skills on between evertyhin else you need to do there.
thank you so much. New to this forum, didn’t realize I was on the wrong thread. thank you
Art school here in EU you need a very good portfolio.
UK art schools offer summer courses if you have funds you could do that.Google search UK art schools and look up Scotland art schools. Some people go to art school in Italy or Spain for summer courses.

My DD and I love his art.
My DD her teacher asked her several times to go study art but she is going to study philosophy.
She did not see herself doing art 24/7 or trying to earn a living doing that.
I wanted to post a little more but not on a public forum. I am on Craftster.org look up the Fern journal and pm me there.
Be well MomAlazne.
I work in an art department of a NYS private liberal arts college that has a lot of transfers and older students. It’s a small college so a lot of one-on-one with instructors and might be a good fit for you. Feel free to DM me if you’d like more info.
You’ve got the two most important things covered–a good portfolio and the cost covered.
Don’t worry about your age–many students are older.
Do you have credits that will transfer that cover some basic general academic subjects? The general requirements aren’t usually that rigorous usually at most art schools.
Ringling doesn’t require SAT. Many dedicated art schools don’t.
I would research art schools for your planned major and look into going to a National Portfolio Day. You’ll get feedback on your portfolio and get a feel for what different schools offer.
conceptart.org is a great site where you can post your portfolio and get feedback or at least look at others.
