First off, I'm new here and the forums will take some getting used to haha. So sorry if this is in the wrong forum!

I was curious on how I should go about building up my portfolio for art schools? If it should have some type of concentration, my strongest work, or a variety of styles I can do?

Those are some very impressive photographs (“Falling” is especially good). I think most art programs prefer that you show versatility- an ability to work in various styles and even various media. Is photography the only thing that you do? If you can draw/paint/sculpt, then I would include some such works. If you stick mostly to photography, then I would go for a nice balance between your best works and a portfolio that displays several different styles.

These are great and acceptable, I too love the “Falling” photo. If you take photography as a major tho, you must know that digital photography is not what all you do. The schools tend to give you assigned projects that use photographic film (which you must know how to develop film) and other technics that you may not be familiar with. Also adding filters to your photo can be beautiful but, it should not be always used to enhance your photos. Quite disappointed that you are only applying to those 4~ schools, 2 of which have less reputable to than the other 2 for photography. Than again it is your choice. I hope you do have a chance to visit or get more information about those schools and more. I figure you would, since the deadline for Fall 2013 is already closed, and you are applying for next year?

I do have many film cameras, I do use some, but film is so hard to find and expensive now at days. But I do try to use them when I can.
I also want to get into fashion, hence why I have parsons and fit there. I probably should have mentioned that too.
And I plan on transferring later on to one of these schools, if I’m accepted.
