Art Supplement

Does the common app colleges definitely use the art supplement available on the common app? I just found the form, but it's kinda late for my teachers to write the rec..

I submitted a photography supplement. All of my colleges except one (Dartmouth) had their own forms, and only one (Amherst) required a recommendation. You should check each college's website for the specific forms. If you're submitting visual arts, be aware that most schools require slides.

Good luck! :)

cameliasinensis, where else are you applying to?
only two of my schools has forms.

I'm applying to Amherst, Bryn Mawr, University of Chicago, Dartmouth, Macalester, Middlebury, Princeton, Swarthmore, Wellesley, and Williams. If your schools don't have forms of their own, I guess you do need the Common App form, but be careful to read each school's guidelines for submitting art anyway, in case they have a specific procedure.

a lot of them say slides, but theyll look at CDs. call and ask.

I sent in a CD as a vocal supplement.

I didn't find the form until afterward though. I really don't think it matters, but I'm not the expert.

When yu send Cd's of artwork and photos, should it be in a slide show? or just a folder with picture (.jpeg) files?

also -- will most schools only look at supps if theyre in by jan 1st? like if i send mine jan 3rd will that be ok?

jan 3 is my b-day...

soyeahiknow -- i made a powerpoint slide show. if you want, you could do both, make the slide show and also have the pictures in case they have a preferred way of viewing it

......Bryn Mawr does not accept photo (or any fine art supplements)

The OP asked where I'm applying, and Bryn Mawr is on that list... I didn't actually send them anything. That's one more reason it's important to check each school's individual policy before submitting something.

i see...i just wanted to clairfy...sorry

Cameli-btw...we are applying to simular schools with simular interests

good luck!

Thanks; you too! :)

Yeah... some of them had them under the supps form on the common app and some of them didin't. For the ones that didn't, I didn't supply one (and just sent the supplementary material by itself) but sent a cover letter explaining what I had sent.
