I have questions concerning the Arts Supplement (specifically for visual art) that is on the Common Application website. Hopefully, someone who has done this before or is currently doing so can help me.

First off, it asks for a web address. Should this be a portfolio website that showcases our work? Many private colleges ask for slides or prints, which I'm assuming need to be mailed in, so is providing a web address necesary or repetitive?

Also, if anyone has an example of a resume they wrote for the Arts Supplement, can you please PM it to me? I am in desperate need of a reference/example. This would be much appreciated.

Ive never heard of the art supplement for Common App. I know that individual colleges they have separate requirements, I never heard of the web address thing. Where exactly on the website is this?

That’s the form, except on the online version, it says “Provide a web address where member institutions can view or listen to a 10-minute sample of your work that demonstrates contrasting examples of expression and technique.”

Is this refering only to music or possibly to a website for visual artists?

Dealing with physical artwork is big hassle for many admissions offices. If you can represent your work well online it will be much easier for the admissions office to handle your online form instead of physical copies of your work. If you can’t get your work online, they definitely send the physical work to them. But they probably prefer it online if you can manage.

On the online version of the Common App, on the Art Supplement section it says “Provide a web address where member institutions can view or listen to a 10-minute sample of your work that demonstrates contrasting examples of expression and technique.”

It’s right above the part where you upload your resume.

So only some, not all, the colleges use this form, right?

Because at the top of the form of yoru link, it says, “check specific college info in our requirements grid or online to ensure a member institution uses this form.”
