I sent art(drawing) portfolios to a bunch of top schools.

SAT: 2340, 800's Math and BioE, 740 USH
AP: 5's USH Eng Lang Stat; 4 World History
GPA: 3.87UW top 5% of 500ish in a large public school
ECs: lacking; a bunch of clubs, a couple positions
And asian.

Accepted: Tufts, Vanderbilt, Wellesley, Wesleyan, URochester, Northwestern, UChicago
WL: JHU, Amherst, Swarthmore
RJ: Penn ED, Duke, Columbia, Cornell, Brown, Yale, Harvard (haha)

Interestingly, all my interviews coincide exactly with my rejected list, except for Cornell. Though the reason would be more that they are all incredibly selective rather than that I came off as a psychotic during each of 6 interviews.

Don't worry, I'm more than happy, very satistfied with my acceptances :), it's just that nothing really hit me as a surprise - the art doesn't seem to have helped much. (my limit for college selectivity seems to be those with <18% :P) Except perhaps for getting those WL's at Amherst and Swarthmore. I remember reading that one top college didn't even bother looking at half of its art/music supplements; maybe they all do that.

I thought my art was pretty decent - I am self-taught and it's probably on par with those actually applying for fine arts. (here's a teaser sample:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v634/sushiISgood/lungsboo.jpg)

What do you guys think? (I realize I'm a sample size of just one person and all, but it's fun to speculate :D)
