Article depicting Harvard's sad social scene

haha yea...i was just curious about how the other Ivy forums were, and i have to say, i love how the penn forums aren't focused only on academics or applying or whatnot

Oh, I'm sorry.

You're right, "they," the COFHE, didn't "rate" Harvard 26th out of 31.

Harvard students themselves did.

I was just looking at this thread. Why is it that any mention of harvard on this board becomes an arguement over the relative merits of HYPS, and mostly why harvard is the worst? It this the same attitude that pervades the Yale Campus?

how many threads have we already had like this on the yale board? this is ridiculous....the argument is pointless on both sides and nobody cares who is better...im a student at yale but i don't doubt harvard is amazing in a lot of ways and people should stop attacking it...innocent rivalry at football games is fine, but we don't need to put down harvard to uphold the quality of any other institution, including yale...and jumping in to argue with people who do so is silly and pointless too...let's just drop it

actually guys, this thread is more like stanford versus harvard. Stanford by the way is ranked by PR as #1 for student happiness, so Zephyr in sunny california is probably happy eventhough he's not at harvard.

You'd like to think so, but he seems a bit bored with the place.

Oh? Why is that?

Hard to say. But reading the Stanford Daily, as I have regularly for some years, I am occasionally struck by how insular the place seems.

As compared to HYP + Penn, Cornell and Columbia, and several other elite venues, not much of interest seems to ever happen in Palo Alto - you know what I mean?

On many days there is almost no "news" except for the doings of the various sports teams.

That said, it is an excellent academic institution, in many ways second only to Harvard.

All of the Harvard students that came out of my high school are tools with super elitist attitudes and an "i am the best" mentality. Nobody really is friends with them anymore.

Just in my experiance mind you.

A great deal of interest, however, does happen in San Francisco.

The Stanford Daily, much like the Harvard Crimson, isn't really a good indicator of campus life. I don't read it because it is unexciting as Dickens.

Are these any ways that we are first to Harvard's two?

There is no question that people look at you differently once you are admitted to Harvard; there is a lot of projecting that goes on.

Do you think they would have projected you trolling around college admissions websites all day Byerly?

Unless you're an engineer, of course.

Then they ask why you aren't across the street in Cambridge or across the country in Palo Alto.

Byerly: how can you say that the Stanford Daily is boring? Why only today there's a lead story about the opening of a new luxury retirement community!

Q.e.d. .

And tomorrow there will be one about the Dalai Lama's appearance on campus.

I think he was at Harvard a couple of years ago - his first return to the University since 1995.

http://www.tibet.com/NewsRoom/hhharvard1.htm

You know, to be great u gotta have attitude . U can't b a nice guy/gal and hang around. And as for no one wanting to be friends with Harvard candidates, its probably because the others are jealous as most Harvard applicants are "well rounded" (read have EXCELLENT ECs)

So Stanford students aren't well-rounded?

That's ridiculous.

I went on OVs to a couple of the Ivies. At harvard on friday nights my hosts said "Nothings going on tonight. lets just watch a movie"
I stayed in the dorm watching movies while a couple kid did problem sets.
I'm not applying harvard early.
