My DD primarily went the BA route as she is torn between theatre (Acting), math and music (violin and composition). So many different paths! Most schools have been considering her audition pieces as supplemental even if they are not audition based BFA programs.
Did try for BFA Acting at Mich w/ a no. Also no for BA at Yale. Retooled classical monologue after this (& just won a regional Shakespeare competition w/ new version).
In for BMus (violin) at Maryland and will try to double major in Theatre (they didnāt consider a supplement, so figured she could add that later) there
In at Muhlenberg with max talent scholarships for theatre and music.
Waiting on:
Brown
Northwestern
Williams
Middlebury
Vassar
Wesleyan
Any thoughts on these BAs from the more hard core BFA set? Really interested in Acting with the potential to try her hand more at composition (MT or film ā did a great workshop w/ NYU Stein last year), keep up the violin and maybe pick up a Math minor or double/triple (has a bunch of college level classes done). So, as you can see, can of a liberal arts type. But, still passionate about acting! Worked professionally as a kid, so she knows the industry, hence the interest in diversifying.
Here is a quote from the correspondenceā¦ āwe will have the decisions on talent awards soon. A talent scholarship is stackable with a merit scholarshipā
I believe its the only one in the country and I know your entire junior year is spent studying in Italy. If clowning/circus-type stuff is of interest to you its a top-notch program.
We got an email saying that my son was on the final consideration list (University of Oklahoma MT). That was a couple weeks ago and we havenāt heard anything since. Hopefully people will start declining offers that they donāt expect to take so that the waitlists will move. We were hoping to visit OU but is it worth visiting if we donāt know if he is accepted or high on the waitlist? So much money when coming from the west coast.
It is actually pretty amazing. I know someone who is currently a freshman in the program and I could connect you and her parents, if that would be helpful!
