<p>I think that if you use the Common App there is actually an online form for artistic recommendations, though my memory may be fuzzy in this regard. Go to the Common App form and take a look at the various recommendation forms. Or, you can just ask your acting teacher or favorite director or choir leader to write a recommendation and send it in directly, after you supply him or her with a self addressed, stamped envelope and directions as to what the school wants. That's what my daughter did. </p>
<p>Of course, go ahead and send recommendations when you are asked to do so, but remember that most kids have teachers writing raving recommendations about them (or else the kids wouldn't ask those teachers!) and the real thing that counts, especially at CMU, is your audition.</p>
