Hello all,
I am a freshman at Montana State and hoping to transfer to CU for fall 2018. My Highschool GPA was a 2.9 with a 23 on the ACT. I was not accepted as a freshman so I chose MSU for an adventure and hopes of getting in as a transfer. My first semester here as an undecided student I had a 3.7 with 15 credits. This semester I am taking core classes that match closely with core classes at CU. They are asking for a midterm GPA that I am guessing will be around a 3.2-3.3. My essay and recommendations presented solid evidence as to why I should attend CU. I am doing terrible in an Astronomy class right now and I am very stressed. I am from Colorado and CU is a dream school for me. Any stories/input/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Your ACT and GPA are way too low for CU Boulder. The average ACT last year was 27.3, this year it is expected to be in the 28-29 range, and the GPA was about 3.7.
Trust me, I’m aware haha. Its the upward trend as a college level student and my determination to succeed at CU in my essays, recommendations and current college level work that I am shifting my focus towards. Hopefully presenting that my high school work does no reflect the student I am now, but pushed me to improve in order to attend their school. Unsure how much this all means to them, but I mean to ask does my poor high school performance outweigh where I am at currently.
