Arts at Midd?

How are they?

Do you mean studio art or art history as a major? Or arts activities for non-majors? One thing I think is really interesting is that the college owns a building called the Old Stone Mill in town and a board of students allocates spaces there to visual and other student artists. Very useful for non-majors who don’t have as much access to studio space on the main campus. There was an article about it in the March 10 Campus newspaper.

I mean the arts culture at Middlebury, though the information you provided was interesting. Thank you for that.

This link might give you some insight…

sigh…not what I wanted…looking for a student to give me some experience-based information.

Son is not an art major. Not even close. In fact, he’s a science guy. However, this is not to say he wasn’t/isn’t the creative type. So when J-term rolled around he took a class from a visiting artist. I would guess that his motivation was to get away from the books or something and get a lot more time in skiing. However, it captivated his imagination. He loved the class and then, even though he surely didn’t need the credit for the requirements, he went on to take another class this spring semester that really taps into his love of both science and studio arts. The description looked like it was written exactly for him. The facilities and access seem pretty amazing and he’s taking full advantage of it. In the future, I would think a space in Old Stone Mill would be a great space for a kid like him. Actually, I could even see him minoring in Art if it weren’t that the required courses for his major weren’t so extensive.
