So dc, whatdja win?

I applied in Dance...does it mean I didn't win anything if I haven't been contacted yet? I thought we were supposed to wait until Dec. 1

i was classical instrumental...dunno if its different

Congratulations!

I won a merit award (honorable mention) in film. I also entered in writing but didn't hear anything on that front.

Do you figure they've sent out all the notifications by now?

Non-winner notifications are sent out a bit later.
So yes, it's likely that all winning notifications have been sent.

ah, okay. thanks.

My son rec'd his merit award notification today. (MT)

My dd received a merit award also. We're thrilled, and thanks again to those who offered their direct encouragement, knowledge, and expertise!
Congratulations, too, vegangirl.
Is there a recommended way to update colleges regarding this award?

What we did last year for D (Hon Mention award):

For EA school: sent a letter to the Admission Office

For RD schools: added ARTS info to the applications

Congrats to CA griffin's S, too!
Thanks fbc, we've already applied to all of her schools, so we'll try the letter route.

I know the awards are just starting their contacts. Good luck to all!

Congrats to all who applied - that is a significant achievement in itself!!

My D got a Merit Award in Voice and she's extremely sad she didn't do better (yes - I do want to shake some sense into her but she looks far too pathetic). Is this something that we should share with colleges she's already applied to or do they only want to know about finalists?

Yes! share it, it's quite an accomplishment. My S got a hon. men. last year and while we don't know that it made a difference for sure, we feel it helped with acceptance and scholarships. On his resume, he had an honors and awards section, where he included it. Congrats to all!

Thanks srw and congrats to your son!

I just found out that I received a score of 9.0 /10, which is an Honorable Mention Award!

Time to send out letters to those EA/ED Schools!

musicaltheatre- how did you find out your scores? when i try to look mine up on the website it says they'll be available dec. 1st.

i went to google and typed in ARTS Score Check.... then used the "cache" option for the first website found, and typed in my information. It gave me my score. This has worked for a few of my friends, and not worked for some others, so I am not sure if your score is even put up yet, they may be doing them in the order they got the tapes, i don't know.

good luck!

That worked very nicely, thank you, mt, and congratulations. You are clever!
Ablest mom, my d actually expressed the same heartbroken feeling with a merit award. She seems to be responding to serial reframing (I couldn't be prouder, etc. etc), which this board has helped me support by having a place to get reality checks alone! This would be such a lonley process at times without support like this board. For that , I am thankful (and proud)

musicaltheatre- thanks! that worked.
I found out I got merit awards in both film and writing. i wonder why i got a letter for the film one but not the writing one. weird.
