I'm applying to quite a number of college, many of which are Ivy Leagues.
I am a strong student academically, with a superscored 2400 from a 2250 and a 2380. I get all A+s and have a weight GPA of 4.4. I am President of Model UN and participate in many clubs.
One main thing I do is play the violin. I have been playing for 7 years now. However, I am not an exemplary player in that I have not received any awards or such but I am in the school Chamber Orchestra and do play rather well. I am considering an arts supplement, but am afraid that since I am not as strong as many others are, submitting the supplement might hurt my chances of admissions. Should I submit an arts supplement for violin or no? Any honest input would be greatly appreciated.

If you are interested in playing in the college’s orchestra, for example, it might help, though violinists are not as hard to come by as, say, bassoonists. Otherwise, if you highlight it in your extracurricular section that might be enough. I can’t imagine it would pull you down in any case. Don’t consider me an expert on this, I should add.

I know at least for Stanford, submitting an Arts Supplement can’t hurt your application, although you have to turn it in earlier. I don’t know about any other schools.
