Art Supplements

Hey!

I'm wondering whether to submit 2 Common App art supplements.

I've played violin for 10 years, am president and principal 2nd of my school orchestra, was a member of a noted city youth orchestra, and am concertmaster of a baroque group at my city's conservatory, among other violin-related things.

I also have dedicated time to the visual arts, and have compiled a nice CD of the best selections from my still lifes, sketches, sculptures, ceramics, prints, and wire work. I haven't won any awards or gained any leadership positions, but I've always had a natural talent for art and have developed it (hate to sound conceited, but it is not insignificant) through high school electives.

I made a recording last friday of 3 violin pieces which I have been preparing to the best of my ability this crazy semester, and while it showcases my great tone, it has some mistakes and musicality issues. I plan to record again friday, but maybe this is not necessary.

I was planning to submit both my Music and Art CDs, but can/should I just submit the Art? Or just Music?

I'd appreciate any feedback :) Thanks!

Only submit supplements if they supplement the rest of your application. You don’t get bonus points for every additional thing you send. So I definitely do not recommend sending two supplements. As for whether one would benefit you, that depends on the strength of your art/music. Do know, however, that musical strength is not particularly unique in the realm of college admissions, meaning you have to be incredibly talented to stand out.
