Posting this for a friend of a family…

Her son is looking into Brown and is very impressed so far with what he sees. He is a top caliber student and is very social. Not sure what he wants to do, but its either international relations/ economics. She was curious as how big the asian indian student population is on campus and is worried that he will be one a few on campus/ Providence (when going off campus). She really wants a diverse school for him to explore and get that “college experience” .

They live in NJ where there is a large Indo-American population where there are many Indo-American students at Rutgers just as an fyi…

I don’t have any firsthand knowledge but a 2014 PDF from brown showed 13% undergrad and 5% grad students in their Asian demographics. I don’t know how many of those are Indian Asians.

By the way earlier this year complaints were filed against Yale, Brown & Dartmouth for discriminatitory admission tactics to enforce an Asian quota.

There is a large population of South Asian students at Brown - he definitely won’t feel like one of a few. It might not be as many as at home, but it’s certainly a very diverse place.
