First of all, I'm positive I want to do study this as a minor. (I already have a major)

The thing is for these two the courses required are exactly the same..so I'm just having trouble picking which title.

Which do you think sounds better? And why?

It doesn’t make a difference.

Depends what kind of job you’re looking for. I think “Languages and Literature” sounds more academic, but if you’re going to work for a big company and need cultural experience, I think “East Asian Studies” sounds better. If it doesn’t have anything to do with what you want in the future, it doesn’t matter.

I agree with what cristiline wrote.

Think of it as if they were American Language & Literature or American Studies.

Do you need to know how to write and read Asian literature more? How to interpret different languages? Know famous authors?

Or do you want to know what the different countries are, their cultures, and their histories?

Literature is a far less common choice than the latter. But again, your future makes the choice.

Why does your school offer the same minor with two different names?
