Hi, right now I'm an undergraduate freshman (but sophomore standing) at a 4 year university and I'm currently an Asian Studies major. I don't mind majoring in this but I am just afraid that it will not really do much for me in the future, because most of the required courses are mostly just history and cultural stuff, and people are always telling me that having business skills is necessary before graduating from college. Is it worth doing a minor in business? Or would it be better to just change my major to business? I am interested in business and asian studies, so I don't mind going into either. It's just that I can't decide what to minor and major in. I am also trying to graduate in 3 years, so I don't if it's worth the extra time to put in a minor. I would appreciate good advice. Thanks

If possible, a double major in business and asian studies is a powerful combination in today’s economy. However, if this is not feasible, I would go the Business major/Asian Studies minor route.

There’s no language component to the Asian Studies major? If it did and you have study abroad opportunities, then that would be more useful. I’d agree with jay with a bus major/AS minor or maybe even a bus major/language minor. Those might provide a niche if you wanted to work with a certain area in the future.

Hi I was a solo East Asian studies major and it has gotten me very far (up until recently I was working at a chinese private equity firm before I was accepted into grad school) so I wouldn’t up and quit. Internships are more important for majors such as ours. If you really want to do business see if you can do a double major. THe critical thinking history and other asian studies courses will suit you well.
