<p>Extracurricular Activities
- National Honor Society: Been active member for three years, was instated spring of freshman year (as early as possible), and have ran and lost campaign for office twice: once for Vice President in 2007, and once for treasurer and president in 2008. Have gotten two Academic Letter Awards as a result of hard work in academics and through Honor Society. Will continue to be active with Honor Society activities and service projects (Toys for Tots, Cancer Walk-A-Thon, etc.) throughout senior year
- DECA: Active member in sophomore year, taking third place at the Regional DECA Competition in Business Law and Ethics and qualifying for the State Conference. Could not join in junior year due to lack of a business/marketing class on schedule. Will return in senior year.
- Youth Commission: Helped initiate my city's youth commission, and served on its Executive Board sophomore year. Resigned the position in junior, but still remaining active, I will return to the Board senior year as Chairman of the commission. The Youth Commission has organized many local events, and has participated in many service projects, including, but not limited to, Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House, local Battle of the Bands, local All Fool's Easter Egg Hunt, and local Kiwanis club. The Commission earned the Chase Youth Award for dedicated service in 2007 and 2008.
- Hospital: Regularly volunteer at local hospital since June 2008 (ever since I had time, really).
- Library: Former regular volunteer at local library since freshman year. Had to drop due to schedule conflicts
- ASM Materials Science Camp 2008: Participated at the Seattle camp in the University of Washington campus in July 2008. Worked with Boeing engineers on carbon-fiber reinforced polymer projects, and am intending to finish some of those projects in an Intel/Siemens Talent Search Project
- Knowledge Bowl: Captain of the 2008-09 Knowledge Bowl team. Active participant since sophomore year. Competed at Junior Varsity level in sophomore year and placed sixth in league (out of thirty-ish). Captained second varsity team, finished sixth in league (out of twenty or so), and competed with varsity team at regional and state competitions (second in regionals, out of 42, and sixth in state, out of a lot more).

<p>Essays:
Very happy with what I have now. Will continue to edit and cut, but my readers have considered them to be nothing short of phenomenal, except that they're too long. They should be very good</p>

<p>That's kind of it...I probably forgot something big and will add it later...but for now, could you give me some good advice? Thanks. My prospective schools:</p>

<p>Ivy League:
Yale Unversity
Harvard University
Brown University
Cornell University
University of Pennsylvania</p>

<p>Other Universities:
University of Chicago
John Hopkins University
Georgetown University
Carnegie Mellon University
University of Washington (Honors)</p>

<p>Liberal Arts Schools:
Williams College
Pomona College
Carleton College</p>

<p>Thank you!!!</p>

<p>Anyone...? :(</p>

<p>...please?</p>

<p>tone the list down a little you are a huge underdog to get into any of those colleges.
Yale Unversity
Harvard University
Brown University
Cornell University
University of Pennsylvania
these colleges are 5-10%
University of Chicago
John Hopkins University
Georgetown University
Carnegie Mellon University
these are 10-20%
University of Washington (Honors)
i dunno anything about Washington
Williams College
Pomona College
Carleton College
20%</p>

<p>go a tier lower to colleges like Wake Forest and William and Mary and USC</p>

<p>I'm not sure why you have two chance threads, but okay.</p>

<p>First, I'd go ahead and report the AP Physics score for the sake of total honesty. It looks...odd...not to do so, since the class is on your transcript. You'll want to try to pull up those SAT scores next weekend in order to have a little more security, but you probably already know that.</p>

<p>Your ECs are really impressive. Just remember that the Common App only allows you to list 7 of them, so you'll probably end up cutting clubs and such that you've only joined this year.</p>

<p>Your list, as it stands, is really, REALLY reach-heavy. I don't see any true matches on there, and your only safety is the University of Washington. I'd suggest cutting 3-4 of the reaches and adding a few matches. Ideally, try to get it down to about 5 reaches and 3 matches (and that's only if you can't stand to cut any more).</p>

<p>Hey! Ha, you're 16! Cool~</p>

<p>Ivy League:
Yale Unversity - high reach
Harvard University - higher reach
Brown University - high reach
Cornell University - low reach
University of Pennsylvania - reach</p>

<p>Other Universities:
University of Chicago - low reach
John Hopkins University - low reach
Georgetown University - no idea
Carnegie Mellon University - reach
University of Washington (Honors) - no idea. I'm guessing reach, since it's honors. </p>

<p>Liberal Arts Schools:
Williams College
Pomona College
Carleton College</p>

<p>Don't know anything about LAC's, sorry.</p>

<p>Here's why (for the Ivies):
GPA/ST scores: average/low average
EC's: solid average</p>

<p>Sooooo...sorry if I'm harsh. Hey, but maybe they'll think you're a genius for your age~ Not many 16 year olds as seniors! =O</p>
