Asians = URM?

I'm looking at some stats here and it looks like Asians only make up 6% of the population at UNC. Does this mean that Asians are considered an URM, thus asians would have an advantage when it comes to applying to UNC.

Also....do males have a slight edge due to the 60/40 female:male ration. And do counties matter? I live in Raleigh...

i've heard that its easier for males to get in than females.

Living in Raleigh won't hurt I don't think. It certainly won't help. Living in a really poor, rural county probably would.

..I don't think Asians have an advantage anywhere, really.

so living in wake county won't hurt me? Doesn't UNC have a quota or something similar to that?

Sorry for the double -post, but I can't seem to edit my previous post!

So, what are my chances for UNC Class of 2012:

-Asian (chinese)
-IN-STATE (Raleigh)
-4.5 gpa
-25/500ish
-1300 M/CR | 1950 overall
-7-8 APs by Senior year
-Decent ECs, but nothing great (do they matter that much for In-state applicants?)

Being a smart Caucasian male would probably help you. Being a smart Asian male will most likely not help you.
