asians

my friend sent me this. some makes sense, some don't. but overall, it's mildly interesting:

Here is the reaction of an asian parent to their son/daughter being accepted to this school. These kinds of phrases are usually uttered by FOBs with APC (asian parent complex) which makes them overly obsessd with sending their progeny to The top tier Ivys.

Harvard yale princeton stanford MIT: You have honored this family well

Penn: You have disgraced the family going to penn state

Brown: What is this brown, no school can be good if named after a color

Columbia: You are not going outside the country for you education

Georgetown: You got accepted to a city?

U of Chicago: I will not let my child attend a public university

Northwestern: What?, you got accepted to a direction, what a disgrace to the family honor

AW or S: who has ever heard of (Amherst/Williams/Swarthmore) back home, you better start learning to wash dishes

Carnegie-Mellon: What kind of fruit is that?

Vanderbilt: Who-built? I don't know anything Vander did do be famous.

WUSTL: Where is St. Louis is it even part of the united states? Who is this "washington"

Rice: I will not let my child attend a cuilinary school, you will be a honorable scientist, not a chef

Wake Forest: What can you learn from a forest, I want my child to go to a university

Reed:They are sending us acceptance letters becasue you are such a disgrace that they think you need to learn how to READ

Colgate: Toothbrush making school is not a place I will send MY child

Was it wrong that I read those in my head with a thick FOB accent?

^ HAHA (to both)

i'm filipino...close enough. my parents aren't THAT crazy, but after the financial aid package came in from USC, they jumped at the opportunity for me to go to a private with a fairly big name over a state. no prob...it was my first choice anyways.

Duke: Duck for eating, not education!

Wharton: What's Wharton?
University of Michigan: You're not going out of country for college.
NYU: You're not going to a public university.

Asian Parent: "You will be an honorable scientist."
Asian child: "I hate science with a flaming passion."
Asian Parent: "Then you will be an honorable engineer."
Asian child: "Again, I hate science with a passion."
Asian parent: "Then you will be an honorable doctor."
Asian child: "For the billionth time, I HATE SCIENCE!!!"
Asian parent: "Then you will disgrace this family by becoming a lawyer."
Asian child: "Whatever screw you."

~+AzN PrYdE+~

haha thats funny, except all the asians at my school (Koreans mainly) all want to go to penn, for some reason...

Carnegie-Mellon: What kind of fruit is that?

i just had a little chuckle-fest with that one for a good three minutes.

Or be white from the middle of nowhere

"Son, you don't need no schooling, just stay home and help your pa"

I've got a question . . .

What's an FOB?

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=FOB+&r=f

wow~☆ ♨
funny...-_-;;
But not all Asains are like that...
esp. my father: "Go to public!"

i guess it might depend what economic class you're from :P i can def. imagine some asian parents like that though. However, the brown-what, penn, and columbia things probably aren't true. As long as its ivy league i dont think they seem to really care. they just wont mention the school name when they're bragging :P

PS: how could you forget cornell!

Man I'm such a disgrace to my family =(. lol. English major Philos minor at a "lower" state university (Cal State Long Beach rather than any UC). planning to go to law school. Yup major disappointment =*(.

That's the funniest thing I've read in a while :) haha

This is sooo true.

Me=Asian failure.

My Profile:
5'10'', 3.55 UW GPA, 1940 SAT, hates science with a passion, first choice is NYU-Stern and UMich-Ann Arbor, intending to major finance and minor in polisci or international buisness or something (no engineering/science/ premed?!?!!? GASP!!!!!), plans to become an investment banker, then plans to get an MBA from Wharton or Harvard or Columbia (or even Stern or UMich), plans to eventually become a venture capitalist, doesn't do math olympiad/science fairs/science olympiad/whatever, plans to take AP Calculus AB, only taking AP Environmental Science, has a heavy humanities/social sciences slant (business being a professionally oriented social science), highest degree I'm planning to get is MBA (GASP!!!no PhD!?!?!?!!I'm such a failure), wants nothing short of becoming ridiculously rich.

Anyways yeah I'd be considered a failure in most Asians' eyes.

i agree with flglxpstbxkdls. a lot of the parents around here are like: just go to some uc! we can't afford privates.

Mom in 8th grade: Go to UC Berkeley!!!
Mom in 9th grade: 3.53....that's ok. Keep working hard.
Mom in 10th grade: You shall become a doctor. Period.
Mom in 11th grade: Get into NYU Stern and I shall be ecstatic.

:)

i think it is hilarious that you said being 5'10" is equivalent to being an Asian failure.
