I just asked my upperclassman IS friend sitting next to me haha and he says:

“Python! because it’s easy to learn. Javascript! because it’s used everywhere. Also, some website stuff would come in very handy (the “trifecta” - javascript, CSS and html). I also highly recommend skipping 15110 and jumping straight into 15112 because 110 is a waste of time. A lot of IS is done in Ruby on Rails but I would NOT suggest jumping right to it as it is extremely confusing (I didn’t know rails before college but IS does a good job with introducing it).”

EDIT: “It depends on what you do. If you just do the bare IS minimum it is laughably easy. That’s why pretty much everyone in IS has either a double major or minors. If you’re interested in the techy side more than the businessy side, do a CS double or CS minor. Then the workload will become normal.”
To add onto that, nothing is really comparable to CS workload, maybe Architecture comes really close/same in comparison, but that’s pretty much it.

I was accepted to CIT. The last few weeks i have got very interested in wall street and want to go into the computational finance degree. How easy will it be to switch schools now? I can either switch into tepper or mellon science. I would rather switch to tepper but either will do.

i will be a freshman next year so i wont be transferring right into comp fi because this doesnt start til sophomore so i will try to transfer to tepper and if not then mellon college of science

It’s definitely worth it, especially since they have a whole question on their application about whether you interviewed. CMU is big on demonstrated interest!
