Ask a current freshman anything.

cabhax, is it hard for freshmen to get tickets once all the upperclassmen get their purchases? The only reason I ask is because thats one thing that I am really excited for when I go to UPark.

cabhax thank you very much for your input and all answers were very clear.

Now let’s say I do not want to join any frats but want to party, will there always be somewhere for me to go that I’ll hear about or are frat houses only open to those who join them and there isn’t any other places for freshmen to drink and party?

It wasn’t hard for me to get football tickets. Make sure that you create an account on ticketmaster and set up your credit card beforehand. I think it was at 8pm when the tickets when on sale. I clicked it at like the second it turned 8PM and was put on the waiting list for like 5 minutes. When you get off the waiting list you have a certain time period to complete your purchase (I don’t remember how long exactly) but that’s why you want to have everything set up beforehand.

After the first couple weeks it’s going to be hard for a guy to get into a Fraternity house if he’s not rushing or not accompanied by at least five other girls and that’s strictly only for parties. Most of the Fraternities have socials instead of parties at night which means that it’s just them and whatever Sorority they are paired with at that night and no one else.

Do you know what the requirements are to transfer into Smeal from UP (DUS) and when you would actually apply to transfer?

I find it amusing the # of questions being asked about the party scene. You’re all going to be starting college level coursework in a new place with new peers and you are worried about when and where you can find booze. hm.

@Shogunzek - I really appreciate taking the time out to answer my question. I have a 3.49 UNweighted and 3.7 Weighted GPA. I applied for UPark and the IST Program, I visited and toured the IST and loved it this past summer. What is my chance of acceptance or wait list then acceptance? If you would like more information, I’d really appreciate you visit my post and chance me.
