Do students party a lot?
Hi! I have 2 questions for anyone who is either starting Kenyon this year or is currently attending:
-
If you’re an English major, what were your extracurriculars/SAT scores/merits? I know it’s hard to get into their English program, but how hard is it really? (sorry, just panicking right now)
-
Are there any cool places to hang out near campus?
When you apply to Kenyon (like most liberal arts schools), you indicate the major that interests you but don’t apply for a specific major, unlike larger schools. So the admitted student profile for the school is inclusive of all majors.
Kenyon is a small campus in a tiny town with a couple of small restaurants and a cute coffee shop. They have great nature trails, a farm, lots of outdoor activities. The athletic center is another draw for some. There is a small town about 10 minutes away with more stores, restaurants, etc. Because of its location, most of what happens on campus is led by the school and/or the students – events, parties, etc. Plenty of places to hang out and get together with friends, but it’s not an urban environment.
On our tour, seemed like the most popular answer for outside fun was to go to Kenyon’s film department / studio in the converted warehouse building in the neighboring town.
