do you know anyone who has taken a remedial english class?

kylieemarie, what are you trying to ask? There are a few people on this forum that have taken remedial english… so they can help you?

Are the remedial classes difficult? would you recommend me stay in it or ask if they could review my test again and see if i would go up a class?
and also would i be behind in english ?

Does anyone know how we get financial aid for summer bridge? I’m freaking out cause my orientation is on 6/6 and I need to apply by then and I don’t know what to do. :x

kylieemarie: if you placed into the remedial class, take the remedial class. If you’re an English major or something, then this may put you behind. For most majors you’re only going to need English 1A, 1B, and 1C anyways so what does it matter if you have to take a remedial class? They placed you into a class they believe you’d benefit most from.

Hi I’m going to be a freshman at UCR in the fall of 2010 and my major is political science/law and society. After taking the math placement test I was placed in math 004 as a result of my weak mathematics skills. I was wondering if my major needs a math class at all, because I checked the ucr course catalog and it didn’t say anything about a math class as a requirement. Please help me! Thank you.

actually you dont need a math class unless if your polisci/ admin studies major

just wondering but can you have stuff shipped to your dorm. Like by ups, fedex, and stuff.

Yeah there is a system for that I learned about at BEAR facts it’s called Mygofer and they will ship stuff straight to UCR and if it’s over a certain amount no shipping fee’s.

Should we bring like a laptop on the day of our orientation?

i wouldnt, your not gonna have much time to use it. your gonna be stuck doing activities for most of the days.

definitely not there’s no reason for it plus you would have to carry it around while you do a bunch of activities

Trust me you would not want to bring a laptop in orientation because I did it and I ended up carrying it the whole time during orientation because I didnt want to leave it in my room. Also, you cant even use it until the night time.

When do we start joining clubs?
or do I need to sign up for the clubs during orientation?

i was wondering how do we get drinking water. Like do we bring our own supply or can we fill up at the dining halls.

You don’t need to sign up for clubs during orientation. They will be around campus looking for people… Just look out for them (:

There is a hydration station in AI and East Lo… but not Pentland, I think. I always bought bottled water though… haha

Is the following statement:“This statement is false.” false?

4s9m9r1: No. The statement is not factual, therefore can not be “true” or “false”.

Are we supposed to have a list of classes we want to take prior to the orientation? Probably a stupid question because I remember the Pre-Orientation module hinting as such (although that was nearly 2 months ago).

you don’t have to because they are gonna give you some time to make a schedule for your classes before registering. but i think it’s better to make the schedule for your classes prior to orientation so you can register earlier than anyone else. (Also, make at least 4 alternative schedules just in case because classes can be filled out quickly.)
