GRE is transferring because of his GF at USC.

Do you know anything about how ROTC students are perceived? I know at some universities they are looked down upon, others praised, and still others neutral.

Thanks.

Hey
a few questions
1) is it easy to avoid the party side of the university?
2) how is the education?
3) how bad are the dorms?

Thanks!

Similar question as Muserz:
Are there a good amount of people who aren't interested in the parties?
And how is the diversity? I picture the girls to be bleached blond, artificially tanned, and extremely pretty. Would it be hard for a person like me (I'm half white, half filipino, yet I look hispanic, shy, studious) to fit in?

I would also like to know about the students in ROTC. I'm planning to join in if I get in even though I didn't get the scholarship.

Hey,
so i already got into ucsb but not to the major i wanted... i applied to the school of engineering but did not get into it and i know the main reason is because i di not do so well on the math SAT II because my calculator was broken and i had to simple math by hand which took awhile and i ran out of time (got a 650)....so i was wondering if i can retake it (i know i can get above at least a 730) and try to change to the school of engineering???

^^I got a 600 on the math II SAT II and got into engineering. But I got a 720 on the SAT I math. There was a dog outside barking during my subject tests...and I did pretty badly on both.

But anyways...I have a question too.

How difficult is it to get into the honors program if you don't get into it as an incoming freshman?

the questions are lining up for you!

my question:

what are some pros and cons about housing at manzanita ?

Same as think+

Pros:

-Large rooms, especially if you get a corner room
-Very large private bathrooms (at a ratio of four a person)
-Close to food and shopping of Isla Vista
-Lots of fun beachside trails
-A stone's throw within the partying of Del Playa Drive without any of it's noise

Cons:
-You don't have a long hallway of students, as in the Channel Island 5 or Santa Catalina dorms, and you don't have girls and guys living on alternating wings on the same floor. Instead, you only have about 12 people per floor, and floors alternate by sex.
-Lots of upperclassmen live in the complex, many of whom didn't want to move into Isla Vista and wanted to enjoy a quieter experience.
-Less social than other dorms due to the two issues mentioned above

A lot of this varies depending on the kind of people you get in your dorm. As a new transfer student, I personally hated it...

^^Honestly, I think those dorms sound perfect to me.

those are perfect for me!

And one more question:

Hows the workload compared to that of HS? I'm pretty stressed out now, but that's with 8 classes (two of which are online college courses). I figure it'll be much easier to handle 4 college classes.

In your opinion and experience so far, which are the best dorms that's not big on the party scene? (and out of those, which has a ocean view =)
I'm kinda liking what manzanita sounds like so far...
I'm am def not a party person but will most likely go to SB for pre-biology...

Hi,
I'm an int'l student and very excited about being accepted to UCSB.I would appreciate if you can briefly answer my two questions.
a)What can you tell me about physics in SB,I mean how good is it compared to other top physics departments in country?
b)Can I have a single dorm room in sb?

I'm curious to know how the diversity at UCSB is. How is the black community? Black Faculty?

I found out that I can change my major before submitting my SIR
If i do change my major and I do not get into it, do I still keep the old major I got into? Or will my whole acceptance be withdrawn...I'm really worried about that.

Hey I just have a couple of questions

1) If I don't take any AP tests during my senior year will ucsb rescind my acceptance?
The APs have nothing to do with my major

2) How is UCSB's chemE dept?

If you listed the classes on your schedule for senior year, you have to finish them. However I don't think there is any requirement to actually take the AP test.

Hi, how hard is the coursework. I'm majoring in philosophy, do you know anybody or anything about it?
