Ask an OSU Senior

OSULolz- Since you went to Fisher, what dorm buildings would you recommend? I have to pick 4 buildings for the housing application and i’m not sure which to pick. I’m leaning towards a super double or single and I am a transfer student so almost all of my classes will be in the Fisher Building. Any advice?

The closest buildings to the college of business (your classes will probably be in Schoenbaum) would be NSA complex (Norton/Scott/Archer), Drackett, or Neilwood Gables. I highly recommend a super double for the amount of space available.

OSULolz, with the window for football tickets opening up in June I was just wondering how the games are for the incoming freshmen. I guess what I mean is that I’m coming to campus not knowing anyone and as far as I know I can’t get two tickets and bring a friend so I’d be going by myself until I meet more people. Sitting with total strangers isn’t very appealing but I assume it wouldn’t be too bad since everyone would be pretty spirited. Any thoughts?

Buy Block O North or South tickets…this is a student section where you can sit wherever you want in that section with no assigned seating. This way, when you meet people on your floor and etc., you can sit with them. If you buy assigned tickets, then you would just probably sit by yourself, but it is still a good time!

^^ If I don’t purchase the tickets during this window time will there be tickets available when the autumn term begins? I’m also in the same situation and am leaning towards purchasing block O tickets for the same reason that I am coming in knowing no one. Should i just purchase individual block o tickets for myself?

Yes, purchase Block O tickets for yourself…but there will NOT be student tickets available in the fall from Ohio State. You can buy them off of friends and stuff, but they will sell out fast–you need to be on the computer at the beginning of your ordering window.

Is sitting in Block O north or south better? I am debating getting the all season tickets in south or the big ten only games in north

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I927 using CC

as an incoming transfer student i will not have registered for classes by the time my window opens for tickets… can i still buy a ticket package? or do you have to be registered first? and to piggyback on what crazee88 said if i buy just the big ten package and i meet people to go to games with later is there any way to sit in a group or is your seat permanent for the whole year

Block O North and South are pretty much the same thing.

Jlau123–I’d call the ticket office for those questions, it seems that the ticket system under semesters is far different than what I know under quarters

OSULolz
My son isn’t a big football fan, but would probaby go to a game or two to be social. If he buys a BlockO ticket/pass, will he be able to sell some to another student? Will the student be able to use it if he/she isn’t a BlockO member?

Thanks

Yes–Block O is just a student section. He can sell it to any student with a BuckID.

A popular and easy place to sell it is on the Facebook Marketplace…you can post it there and other OSU students can see them and contact him about buying them.

OSULolz- I recently received a letter in the mail from the Residence Halls with information about purchasing linens and other things for my dorm. The link they gave me was [College Dorm Room Bedding & Twin XL Sheets by RHL](http://www.rhl.org/osu6) . They said that past students have used this and it was a huge success for purchasing things for your dorm. I just want to know if it is worth purchasing the linens through this site because they said that their beds are a Twin Extra Large. If that were the case, would I be okay with just purchasing linens at a Target or Bed Bath and Beyond and getting them in Twin Extra Large?

I got that last year. Everything is a ripoff and you could do much better at target or bed bath and beyond

How screwed am I for scheduling if my orientation date is July 26th-27th? Am I going to get all the 7:30 AM classes?

Yeah I would also go with Target…got a pack there that included everything (sheets, comforter, etc) and it was a fair price.

However, it used to be that OSU started at least a month after everyone else, so you could get excellent clearance prices on everything dorm-related…not anymore! :D

Navy, it depends what classes you are taking. If they are big general classes you should be fine although you may have some early classes.

Well I’m going into aerospace engineering, but as a freshmen, don’t you typically take all the general classes anyways?

Engineers typically go through the FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) program freshmen year, so you may take last general classes than other majors would. I wouldn’t worry though, whatever you schedule is, you’ll get used to it. Early classes = done early

I’m an ME but I know what you will be taking. There will be openings for sure. You will take engineering, math and possibly chemistry or physics. Your other classes will most likely be general requirements and there are many choices. I wouldn’t worry at all.

Awesome thanks guys
