Ask an SMC Admissions Counselor!

Hi there!

Let me introduce myself briefly, my name is Mallory Wood, a 2008 graduate of Saint Michael's College who now works in the Admission Office. I will be your resource on College Confidential for questions, comments, and anything else you may need!

Might I suggest some tools for you prospective students and families?

1) There are a number of ways for you to connect with us in the Admission Office. If you click this link Saint Michael's College - My Counselor you can find out who in our office travels to your area! I suggest making contact with that person, as they are also the one who will be reading your application.
2) Have you visited the campus yet? Click this link Saint Michael's College - Campus Visit Options to find out about the many different visit and tour options that we offer. We are open Monday-Friday 8:00AM to 4:30PM and usually one day on the weekend for a noontime tour. And don't forget to write up a report on College Confidential once you have visited!
3) CONNECT with Current Students! (Because lets be honest, you want to know what it is like to BE a student at St. Mikes!) There are so many different ways you can connect with us online.

Hi, I was wondering if merit scholarship awards for EAI applicants are mailed with the decision.

And when are Early Action I decisions mailed?

JJ and Beachlover,

Thanks for your questions!

Early Action decisions are mailed roughly 2 months after the deadline date. If you apply for Nov 01 you will hear by Jan 01 or if you apply for Dec 01 you will hear by Feb 01.

Merit information is mailed a few weeks after the decision. Our Financial Aid office needs time to review the files that we send them in order to accurately award merit scholarships. (Everyone is considered!) Of course, the need based aid will be awarded after your family fills out the FAFSA and then complete award letter will be mailed.

Anything else I can help you with?

Admission Counselor

I’d just like to commend SMC on their admissions process. Though it wasn’t the right school for me in the end, all of the little caveats such as the youtube channel and an actual admissions counselor on College Confidential made the process a breeze. More schools should take this compassionate approach!

Aww thanks beachlover10! We work hard to be as accessible as possible; it’s great to hear that it is appreciated.

Just out of curiosity, where are you going to enroll next year and what made you choose that school?

Best of luck to you! :)

Mallory

So I decided to attend SMC this fall in hope to transfer to a top University, I applied online and completed the online orientation. Now I have no clue what to do next? When is the right time to talk to a councelor regarding my future goals, classes, schedule? I applied for FAFSA for state schools, but I don’t know how I can go about adding SMC or do I have to fill out a seperate application for it? I’m lost. Please help? Thanks.

oc2010,

I’m a little confused about where you are in the process. Have you been accepted? Have you received a financial aid package? I think it would be better for you to give us a call instead of using College Confidential since you have very specific questions and I am not at liberty to speak about your personal situation on this message board.

If you call our office at 1800-SMC-8000 and speak with an admission counselor from your area I am sure we can get your questions answered. You also can ask to speak with Patricia Ashline in financial aid to help you through the FAFSA questions.

Good luck.
