@laurrodes Thank you so so much!
I had a question about ED 1…if I didn’t want to be considered for CGS and applied for just CAS in November and was deffered in December can I add on my application for the second review that I now want to be considered for CGS?
@grafsmgms why wouldn’t you just put it on the first time? If you are willing to use it as a last resort, it might be simpler to just have it down the first time. I’m not sure you can actually update your app via common app for things like that, but I’m sure emailing admissions could do the trick. I know someone who applied to one school but wanted to change the school after submitting her application, and admissions changed it for her. Probably the same idea. Good question though.
Hi, I have a question about Asian population. Is there really a lot of Asians in BU? Especially in Electrical Engineering? Thanks, pls reply this is really important
@Elroyhhhh yes, there are
Thank you so much for starting this thread! I realize you were accepted as a freshmen so you might not have too much information on this, but I was hoping to transfer to BU for fall 2017, so the start of my sophomore year. Transfers are not allowed to be considered for CGS. You either get in where you apply, or you don’t, which is worrying to say the least because BU is my top.
Would I be better off applying to CGS or just going directly with COM? Thanks in advance!
@jucar95 I would highly recommend applying directly into com, unless you really think your stats are really not good enough, I would apply to com. As a transfer, CGS would really put you behind
@laurrodes Okay!! Thank you so much for the advice! Here’s hoping!
hello! I’m a senior seriously considering EDing to CGS at BU, but there are two things that are holding me back from doing so.
- What is the school spirit like? From what I understand, most of it revolves around hockey, but do the other sports like basketball and soccer get a good show up as well? Or after hockey season does no one really care about sports?
- What’s the social life like? I understand that you have to be a very outgoing person to find your niche since it is so big and spread out, so a student would have to find out clubs and parties for themselves, no? Also, Does the campus have any effect on the social life?
Thanks!
Hi! I’m currently a senior in high school and am considering applying ED. BU is my first-choice university, so knowing I’d attend by december would be an amazing feeling.
The only issue with me is financial aid. I’m a first generation American citizen and don’t live in America. My parents are both teachers, so as one would expect, they don’t make much. I read that I can withdraw from the ED agreement if the financial aid isn’t enough, but it is unlikely they won’t give me enough money. I did the online calculator for financial Aid on their website, and it says I’d only need to pay 1.9 thousand dollars (in loans/ work) is this info accurate? should I rely on this information they’ve given me and apply ED?
Also, did you ever hear that applying as undeclared gives you a better chance of getting into BU? I’m not sure if I should so, as my GPA isn’t that amazing nor are my SAT scores, but I know if I attend BU I’d work my butt off to go to the college I actually intended to.
hello!! I applied ED to Questrom, and I was just wondering about the social life here? I’m very outgoing and I know I’ll eventually find my people, but what’s the party scene like? Also, how awful is the Grade Deflation? That’s the one thing that kinda scares me about BU, but I know that I would probably not be as happy if I went anywhere else.
@mxbrown Hi i’m currently a freshman here at BU, but I can still answer your questions. 1. Yeah that’s mostly right, at least from what I’ve experienced so far hockey is BU’s most popular sport. However, I don’t really think that BU revolves around sports, but that doesn’t mean that their is no school spirit. I think that BU’s school spirit is pretty great.
2.You don’t have to be outgoing at all to find your niche. For example, one of my close friends is pretty introverted but she’s still found a lot of groups on campus that she feels comfortable being in. Honestly, although BU is such a large university, you can make it seem like a small one just by finding different groups on campus/friend groups. And in terms of parties, BU doesn’t really have parties on campus most of the parties are off campus, but that doesn’t mean that it’s hard to find a party to go to.
@Asham98 BU is great at giving fin aid to people who really need it so I wouldn’t really worry!
@woahitsnicole The social life here on campus is great! I’m currently a freshman and I’m loving it so much. The party scene is okay on campus, usually the parties are off campus, but that doesn’t mean that people don’t go to parties. I know friends that go out every weekend and find parties. Honestly, grade deflation isn’t a thing. I haven’t experienced it at all, so I highly doubt it exists. If you work hard and put in a lot of time and effort into your homework, you’ll get good grades. Ex: I’m in CH101 which is a gen chem class and people always complain that there is grade deflation in this class, but I don’t think so. Your grade is reflective of how much time and effort you put into the class. Also, because you’re applying to questrom the classes are pretty easy. I have a friend in questrom right now, and he has like hardly any homework.
Thank you so much!! I was really worried about Grade Deflation, and the party scene was something I only recently thought about but haven’t heard much of. That’s a complete relief
@lolog123 thanks! How’s BU going with you? I haven’t lived in the US for 11 years now, is it easy to settle in?
@Asham98 BU’s great! I’m loving it. For me, it was a really easy transition. And, I don’t know anyone whose transition wasn’t easy.
@lolog123 that’s reassuring! I’m applying to BU ED alone, wish me luck!
Does anyone know if there is a class of 2021 FB group up yet? Just want to connect with other potential students!
@Asham98 good luck! Hope you can become a terrier!
