is it possible to make it from pimentel to dwinelle in 10 minutes? distance may be a problem but if it's downhill... then that would make things a lot better

You have 4 years to complete L&S breadth. It's recommended to do them AFTER declaring your major so that you can focus on prereqs for multiple majors you might want to pursue.

Pimentel to Dwinelle is definitely possible. The other way is a lot more difficult. Just try to sit near teh doors in Pimentel (or near aisles) so you can get out of there fast.

What would all of you students good filler for units? I'm only taking two classes that pertain to my major (English) and want to have a somewhat light load this upcoming semester.

Is it true that freshman year is the worst year (academically) for students?

-Viromonkey

It is true in that freshmen will have some difficult time adjusting to college life, segmented schedule, and huge classes.

It is not always true when you are talking about class difficulty since many of the classes freshmen take are basic courses for meeting requirement

Obdeboondocks -- filler courses -- choose from any department with the word "studies" after it. American Studies, Women's Studies, etc. People find these to be the easiest! Because they are. lol.

Okay, it's Saturday and the library closes at 5:00 PM. Where else can I go to study/work? Any buildings with empty open classrooms?

1) What's the general amount of money students usually carry on hand?
2) How much do students usually spend on food every week?
3) How much do students usually spend on personal use (besides food)?
4) For laundry: Washing is $1.50 and drying is $1?

Thanks!

grasspuppet: if youre talking about during the regular year, some libraries should be open later and worse case eschelmen study lounge is open 24 hours.

castel: from personal experience...its kinda weird asking friends how much money theyre carrying and how theyre spending it

at least $40.

if you're living in the dorms you could spend nothing, but if you're somewhat social and eat out sometimes during the weekend then I'd say no more than $15

I don't think theres really much to buy for besides food personal use. Theres just shopping for clothes and stuff and maybe books.

Yes only in the dorms.

So is it normal for people to sleep in the library?

Thank you misterreach!

I hate drying my clothes in the dryer. I'm use to hang drying my clothes :P. Suggestions?

I don't see why you can't just take the wet clothes and hang it up in your dorm room. :P Just tell your roommate(s) so they don't walk into your underwear by accident.

viromonkey: ive slept in the library haha. the engineering library is especially nice with comfy couches and ottomans. people sleep there all the time.

88888888: its an eyesore, but i guess u'll be praised for being environmentally conscious

Does anyone know what happens if I sign up for a class with really low enrollment? Also, is it possible to park your car up at Cal for a whole semester? My parents are really old and I don't really want them to come and drive six hours back to LA. My friends aren't a real help either.

@BChopstick: Then I guess you get in the class, unless it gets cancelled. There's parking garages scattered around Berkeley, but it takes awhile to access them.

This might be a little early but yea. I'm looking to move-out after my first year (most people do right?) and I don't want to move all my stuff back to socal.. it's a hassle. Is there a place I can put my stuff? like a storage or something? and like where, how and when should i start look for an apartment?

there are storage services available and theyll post flyers at the end of your stay. as for apartments, you might not be able to move your stuff from dorm to apartment right away. they might remodel or something or your rent wont start till july cause people move out late...

hmm yea, that's why i was asking if there's like some storage places where I can store my stuff for that first or second month. or the whole summer if i decide to live in the dorms again.

where is it better to live: bowles or clark kerr triple room?
thanks :)
