Hi! I am an international student from Brazil and i want to major in SCM at Michigan State as well and i was wandering what Community College did you attend( i really don’t no what CC’s have a good education in Michigan), is it hard to be accept at MSU in this major as a transfer? and i know that the SCM program at MSU is incredible but i would like to know your opinion.
Thanks for everything and good luck!
@TheSpartan I’ve tried calling the admissions office and they were not very helpful at all, I was hoping you could help me. I messed up the first year of college horribly due to family issues, but this next year I owned up to my mistakes and buckled down on school. I’m doing much better and actually passing my classes now, the first person I talked to on the phone said I had a very good chance at getting in once I finished this school year and sent in my final grades because I had I think 40 credits that would transfer. In short, I wanted to try out for dance team and auditions are in April and they check a week before to make sure you were accepted as a student; I asked the admissions office if I submitted my application now and just prayed I received a decision within a month instead of the full 12 weeks if I could send in my spring grades in 2 weeks when they came in so they could at least start the review process. She really didn’t know what to say and rushed me off the phone. Would I be better submitting the application now and sending in rest of my grades later or wait the 2 weeks for classes to be done and then submit?
@TheSpartan How hard is it to transfer to Biochemistry major? MSU was the first college my daughter applied. At that time, she wasn’t sure which major to pick so she left as undecided, that’s where she got accepted into. Through the rest applications, she has generated a great interest in Pharmacy. So if she were to attend MSU, she wants to get into a field that is on Pharmacy track, understand MSU does not have a Pharmacy school. Is Biochemistry very selective? When do the student declare major? What options does an “undecided” student have? Thank you!
@TheSpartan I applied and was accepted into MSU Business School (Broad I believe) but people on this thread are taking about “applying” to broad during sophomore and junior years in college. Can you explain?
@TheSpartan I was given admission, but it was for the Spring of 2017. Is there a way I can still get fall admission?
@erdockw - Food allergies should not be a big deal. Here’s a page with links on who to contact in each residence hall neighborhood to deal with allergy concerns. https://eatatstate.com/nutrition
My son is going through his housing options now. We are OOS from Arizona and he will be majoring in mechanical engineering. I would recommend the South Neighborhood. The MSU Engineering CoRe program is housed in the South Neighborhood, with classes and labs in Wilson and Wonders Hall. http://www.egr.msu.edu/core/ Wilson Hall is the dorm for CoRe. Case Hall and Holden Hall are in the same South Neighborhood, and both offer Honors Floors: https://liveon.msu.edu/south/case

Here’s an MSU Map http://maps.msu.edu/interactive/index.php You will see that the South Neighborhood is the closest to the Engineering building and to Wells Hall, home of the Math Department. It’s also close to the basketball arena and the football stadium.
