@aliceskates163 There is a questionnaire for roommate selection and they actually do look at it to try to match you correctly and they see your LLC preferences as well so that does help you have something in common with your roommate regardless. I had great success with my roommate and am actually rooming with her again next year but I know some people with terrible experiences. I would say in general though most people are fairly satisfied with their roommate even if they aren’t best friends.
Hi! I want to try and do 6 semesters of school (and three co-ops) and one dialogue of civilizations. I’ll have credit from 7 APs and two courses from local colleges. Do you I could do it if I’m in business?
It depends on what the credits are for. I’d look up your degree requirements on the registrar’s website (northeastern.edu/registrar) to compare. You could also try getting in contact with an advisor in the business college.
@Njrunner I think you should be able to do that though I would double check major requirements to be sure. The dialogue definitely won’t be an issue because that’s extra credits over the summer. You could always take summer courses online if it’s really an issue.
Hi, I applied for and got into the business school for marketing. Am I able to change it when I start attending the school?
I believe you can change your major over the summer before you even start - check instructions on how to do this (i think you need to email somebody)
There should be a link in the admitted students portal about requesting a change of major. It’s not uncommon and usually painless.
Thanks!
@nustudent16 and @beeandpuppycat thanks so much for the help! i’m definitely going to consider, I’m just stuck between going to UCI and NEU after getting waitlisted at UCSD and rejected from UCLA D: One of the factors I’m considering is the cost of attending (in state vs out of state)
Hi! Another question, how do students in the boston area travel? Do most of them take the train/bus around the city?
Boston has excellent public transportation; most people take the “T”. There is a stop right at Northeastern.
There are 4 T stops on or right next to campus, over 2 lines (orange and green), so getting around is really easy. Boston is also a really walkable city, so most of the time I don’t even take the T. The Prudential Center and Newbury/Boylston streets, the emerald necklace are great and within very easy walking distance. It’s also a nice walk to places like the esplanade, Chinatown, or even the North End. I also finally have a bike here (which I got because it was the quickest transportation method to my co-op job) and I’ve loved biking around the city - I wish I’d had a bike out here sooner!
Do I get to pick which dorm after I pay deposit? I’ve read somewhere that NEU does it completely random.
No dorm selection - Honors are in IV and others are spread out - you can select an LLC but they are not in the same dorm year to year
@nustudent16 Please see this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/18270481#Comment_18270481
@lb43823 I’m not sure what I’m supposed to get from that thread…?
Can NUin students apply for honors when they return to Boston?
Hey, I’m trying to decide between here and 1 or 2 other schools.

how flexible is the undeclared program at northeastern? I really have no idea what I want to do, and I’ve heard you can be pressured into declaring pretty early in order to get a co-op–but I want to explore and take as many cool classes for as long as possible before committing to a major.
-
This may come across as superficial, but coming from a small, quiet, sport-less high school, it’s actually pretty important to me: how thriving is the social scene? Are there any decent parties at Northeastern or do you have to go to another school for good ones?
-
what are your own favorite and least favorite things about the school? Any particularly inspiring classes or annoying experiences?
Thanks.
How difficult is it to get a job in the business field through the co op program with no experience?
My daughter was in the undeclared program and they do a great job of helping you pursue your interests and decide what is right for you. There is no pressure to declare and you can even go on co-op still being undeclared. My daughter did not declare until the middle of her second semester and is still able to get a combine major with a minor and will be finishing in 4 years with 2 co-ops.
You should go to the undeclared admitted students day to find out more and check out their website:
