@alafae Where did they say that? On their website, it says that the last SAT they accept for ED is the Nov. test.

@bmehopeful123 That’s what I know too, but they’ve sent in emails asking applicants who hadn’t gotten their application complete (ie. scores) will have to send everything by Wed. So it REALLY doesn’t make sense. I’ve emailed a couple of admission officers too and they all said Nov scores are not guaranteed to be seen- that got me worried

Why would you wait till the November date for a December 14 reply…

because they said so?

is it possible to apply as a voice major/theatre major double degree? the music school website says that you can double degree with the school of communications

If you know about the theatre department, what are the performance opportunities like for freshmen theatre majors? I know NU has really active student theatre, but do freshmen realistically get cast in shows or put into performance groups around campus?

If you are from Miami, you may not have the gear you’ll need in local stores. Probably worth ordering from any of the following REI, Columbia, Lands End, LLBean. Most of these companies have product ratings, for how cold the coat is effective for. Also high tech fabrics today mean you don’t need to look like a giant marshmallow to be warm.

@jmax13 - our D was cast in several shows and joined an a cappella group as a Theatre freshman, starting her first quarter. I think some early fall mainstage shows had been cast the previous spring, and there was one freshman quarter she needed to do tech instead of being in shows, but as far as I know otherwise anyone can audition for anything. Plus I think there’s usually a freshman cabaret and a freshman musical. Of course all casting is competitive on a campus with so much talent, but freshmen can, and do, get great roles.

Hope this helps!

This might seem kind of random but does northwestern have any brick paths?

@jamboreela I believe so

How are the dorm rooms? Do you share a room and with how many people? Or is it like the 4 person suites as a freshman? Does the housing get better as you move up towards senior year or worse?

@Picapole: Or just buy winter gear in Evanston/Chicago. September is generally quite nice so you wouldn’t need winter clothing when you arrive.

The housing is s**t in general. Most freshmen live in traditional dorms, 2 persons per room. Starting from junior year onwards, most people live off coz they can’t stand the (forced-to-buy) meal plans, and a studio flat near campus is cheaper to rent than a double on campus

^ some people live off as early as their sophomore year

Do you have to be enrolled in McCormick to take classes there? I’m a WCAS student but there’s a few IEMS classes I want to take. I might end up trying to double major but I’m not sure right now.

You don’t have to be, you can sign up for any class (if you satisfy the prereqs).
