Do you know any tricks to get into McCombs out of state
A list of your scholarships would be helpful, especially those that have no need based component and are merit only.
I’m reading so many horror stories about kids with great stats not getting in. What are they missing? Is it primarily business-related ECs? Advice there? My son is a freshman.
@GigiMayf Could u give some examples about kids with high stats in state not getting in. I am just curious to know if that’s ok
Scholarships:
National Merit Scholarship + McCombs BHP (Business Honors Program) Scholarship + University Leadership Network Scholarship
For stats:
SAT: 2230/2400
ACT: 30 (Did not do as well as compared to my SATs)
Activities:
FBLA, DECA, Science Olympiad, Student Council, NEHS, NHS
I was President for 3 of the clubs above
Competed nationally for FBLA, DECA, and SciOly
GPA: 4.89/5.0 (weighted)
Rank: 12/694
I know for a fact when I applied, UT filled most majors based on percentages. So Top 1%, then Top 2%, then Top 3%. So if the class for McCombs is filled by top 3%, then the remaining auto admits out of the top 6% (2019) will be placed into their second choice majors. So my suggestion is to have the highest class rank possible and show some reason why you would want to study at the top business school in Texas & the #5 business school in the US.
Here’s an example:
Auto admit, 9/590, 1440 SAT. Both parents McCombs grads.
How would you rate McComb without BHP vs IU Kelley Honors?
