Ask yet another NYU student

dantheman, you totally did not read what we said lol. sternies only dress up when they are coming from work or sometimes when they have group presentation( and not everyone will even do that). No one dresses up for the sake of dressing up. Everyone just has jeans/khakis and polos like all the preps in all the nyu schools :)

Do you think it's worth it to take out around 25k in loans per year for Stern when I'm in Stern Scholars? I plan on going into Finance, investment banking, the usual. I just want to make sure I'm going to be able to pay off the loans comfortably and make good money after that.

No, I did read what you wrote. My personal style is to dress nicely where ever I may be, and I just wanted to know if that would be looked down upon.

duobeef, yes, since i-banking starts at about 60k a year with 30% increases a year if you're decent..since your in stern scholars im assuming you'll succeed. Stern will open doors for you that you can't find else where (or atleast i hope)

sorry dantheman, i misinterpreted what you said, I thought you were asking if that would be underdressed. Plenty of people wear blazers.

mattistotle, were you offered a place in the scholars program? I remember you applied early.

legionaire nope..but they gave me a 20k stern scholarship, so you'd think i'd be in scholars...im not aware of any ED'ers who got it.

Do a lot of Stern kids go into trading or do they mostly going into M&A?

finance, ibanking in particular

How does NYU Law view the undergrads? Will I be at a disadvantage because I'm coming from the same university? What are the acceptance/rejection %'s of NYU undergrads applying to NYU Law?

How hard is it to get 3rd ave as a 2nd choice?

firewalker -I've heard being from the same school is neither an advantage or disadvantage, I really don't know at all thought, you should try to find some pre-law majors

xsuubiex...its fairly difficult unless your ED ( in which your almost guarenteed to get it) since 3rd north, uhall and hayden are the main dorms everyone wants
how choosing works, which i view as unfair is, people are randomly chosen, and then they go down the list. So thus if your are random selected 1000st, and your 2nd choice is 3rd north, and your 1st choice is full, you get 3rd north. Then if someone who is 1001st choice has 3rd north as 1st choice, they wont get it. Really screwed up things happened this year because of this system and I think it really sucks, a bunch of people put carylyle as 4th choice and got it, whereas a bunch of my friends put carlyle as their first choice, and got relegated to water or lafayette.

I see, do you have any experience with 3rd ave or know what its like at all?

Are the essays the same every year?

3rd ave is ok, I like Uhall better

for WTE? the essays are the same, but the source readings are usually different I think.

Sorry for the confusion, I meant on the application.

Dantheman, basically, since NYU uses common App they're
basically forced to

I'll bump this since I see a bunch of incorrect information from freshmen. I'm a sophmore now, and all my classes are in stern.

Here's the admission data, since no one seems to be its able to give correct data even though it's in a million publications.

According to BusinessWeek, 5,587 people applied for admission at the Undergraduate College for the 2005-2006 academic year and 22.6% were admitted. Of this 22.6%, 38% matriculated. The overall NYU admission and yield rate for '05-'06 was 29.6% and 36.3%, respectively. In 2006-2007 the average SAT Score of incoming freshmen at the Undergraduate College was 1441 and the average GPA was 3.76

Feel free to ask any questions, but to alot of freshmen and HS seniors, pelase don't talk unless you are sure what you're talking about.Just because you heard from someone that only 2-3 people in a stern class get A's, doesn't make it true, and thus shouldn't be posted here potentially scaring people away. Likewise no one seems to understand that Gallatin and Tisch actually have low acceptance rates and higher SAT scores than CAS generally.

Gallatin and Tisch actually have low acceptance rates and higher SAT scores than CAS generally.

Really???

Where'd you hear that?

and to compete with youkosirens thread :)

(im a rising junior now)

just out of curiosity...did you ever end up kicking kjayson7's ass? :P
