Asking for rec. letter from junior year teacher?

Hello everyone! I’m approaching the start of my senior high school year, and I still haven’t gotten any recommendation letters done for my November 1 college application deadline. Would it be too late to ask one of my junior year teachers for a recommendation letter? Also, when might be a good time to ask a recommendation letter from a teacher who I’ll be having my senior year? I’d like to ask them at a time when they’ve gotten to know me well enough, yet not so close to the deadline. Overall I’m just clueless at the time being.

I asked for both of my rec letters in the first or second week of senior year, and almost all of my apps were EA or ED so they had to get them in by Nov. 15th. It worked out fine.

Has this senior year teacher never taught you before? If not, it’s probably not a good idea to ask them. I would pick a different one for your second LOR.

I believe you generally ask a teacher from your junior year - a science/math and a humanities. Not a strict rule of course. My D asked her humanities letter from her 9th grade drama/10th grade English since he had her twice and writes wonderful letters.
