I am a junior in high school with a GPA of 2.8 (extremely low, I know). My freshman year I failed a class which destroyed my GPA, but since then I have done well. I'm apart of a few extra-curricular activities in my school such as Future Educators of America, Rotary Interact, Student Humane Society and the Photography club. I have also volunteered over 100 hours at my local nursing home and hold a part-time job at Kmart. This year I take an Honors Spanish class and will be taking AP next year along with Honors History. Do I have a chance of being accepted to CUNY Brooklyn College (& or Hunter College) in the fall? I plan on double-majoring in Special Education and English Education. What SAT scores should I be shooting for?

Thanks!

You certainly have a chance - I think you should go for it. You still have time to raise your GPA a little bit too!

Good luck!

Since you still have time to raise your gpa, you should be fine. But since your gpa is below average, I say you should attempt to aim for around 18-1900 to secure your spot in. Usually if an applicant is lacking in one area but makes up for it in another, there’s no harm done. And since your EC’s are stellar, you have a great shot.

Thank you so much! These responses were extremely helpful!
