Assigning Recommenders - A Unique Situation

I am in a very unique situation regarding my recommenders. I transferred schools between my 11th grade and 12th grade years, so I was advised by my college counseling department to have recommendations written by teachers at the school I attended in 11th grade.

On the common application, when assigning recommenders, there is a section for teachers specifically. My school runs this section through Naviance, as many schools do, but because my teachers that wrote the recommendations are not at the school I am currently attending, I am not able to add them as teacher recommenders.

One of my schools requires one teacher recommendation. Because I cannot add my teachers to the teacher section, I am a bit stressed.

Is there any way to add them as teacher recommenders anyway?

Should I add them as 'Other' recommenders instead? Will it allow me to submit my application if I do this (remember, it states that it requires one teacher recommendation)?

If I do add them as 'Other' recommenders, should I inform the school that I have done so? If so, how should I inform the school?

Thank you for the assistance

You will need to assign a teacher recommender on the common app form in order to be able to submit to the school where one is required and it can’t be someone under the “other” category. Talk to your GC at your current HS about how to get this done.
