Associates By Graduation

I will be getting my Associates in Information Technology when I graduate high school. Will I have to apply to colleges as a transfer student or will I have to apply as a freshman and then transfer my credits over.

I too will be getting my Associates next semester! You are considered a freshman in most cases because you have yet to take any college courses AFTER graduating. You can apply as a transfer student if you would like, especially if it helps you, but really once they find out you’re still in high school, your application will just get tossed in with all the other freshman applicants.

You can still transfer your credits, if an institution allows so (most OOS schools don’t), if you apply as a freshman. Since you will be earning your Associates degree, you will have junior standing when you start college, assuming all of your credits transfer over.

Freshman (with advance standing). My school says there are more scholarships available for freshmen too.
I had to fill out a form at my community college to send my college transcripts to the schools I was applying to as well.

Most colleges and universities will allow you to apply as a freshman, and then will award you advanced standing after you have enrolled. Some public universities that have formal articulation agreements with the community colleges will expect students like you to apply as transfers. Some places will allow you to choose whether to apply as a freshman or as a transfer. So do ask each place what their policy is.
