Associate's degree in business vs accounting vs HR

Hello everyone,

I have an associate’s degree in medical office assistant, and currently have a pt job in that field. For the past few years, I have had a few different jobs in a few different fields, but have mainly been a stay at home mom. I am now 40, and my dd will be graduating this year. I am really looking to better my financial status. However, due to the fact that I have to work at least pt and will be paying for my daughter’s college, I simply cannot do more than an associate’s degree. I would be willing to accept entry level work in one of these fields, but I am not sure which would be the best degree to pursue if any. I would like to eventually be able to make at least 45-50,000 a year. Any suggestion on which is best…or any other fields? Thanks!

I would do an associates in accounting if I were you and use your experience as a medical office assistant to your advantage. For example, you could be some sort of financial/clinical coordinator for a doctor/dentist office. Basically, plan treatment/payment plans with customers and keep records. That kind of job is easily accessible through an associate’s degree and could make 40-45k a year I’m sure.
