Hello!
I was just wondering if anyone knows what the Astrophysics program is like in Colgate?

I know it's a liberal arts school but as an aspiring Astrophysicist (that means getting a PhD on the subject) I want to know if its to my advantage to take the actual course or if to stick to a regular physics major at another school.

Thanks in advance!

I honestly don’t know, being a humanities guy, but what I’d do is to call the college and get in touch with people in the sciences, and ask them. You can call Admissions for suggestions or even call departments directly and ask for suggestions for who to talk to. Believe me, if they have the academic program you’re interested in, they will want you!!

I do know Colgate has a very fine sciences program along with a number of really excellent new science buildings, and is quite impressive in that regard. And a fairly cool small observatory, too.

Good luck!

They have an observatory and a brand new Visualization Lab/Planetarium [Ho Tung Visualization Lab & Planetarium](http://departments.colgate.edu/vislab/) as well as one of the foremost archeoastronomy authorities in the world, Professor Aveni. Unfortunately I don’t know much about the astrophysics department itself, but I would highly recommend contacting the Admissions office - they can get you in touch with a current student or professor in the department.
