ASU 2010 Dorm Thread

For those of you, like me who want to know a few things about the dorm room you’re going to live in for 8 months.

Anyone know anything about San Pablo? I think it looks really nice, but is it better than Hassay?

I will be in the tempe dorms, wondering as well.

have u been assigned to your rooms yet? Does anyone know when they post housing assignments on myasu?

Bunnybutt-
I was interested too, but it looks like it’s not posted until mid-July.

http://help.asu.edu/node/1394</a> Near the bottom, it shows that the assignments will look like.

Just got an email saying I got into Hassay… nice!

Tim10, when did you submit your preferences? I’m hoping I get into San Pablo. (:

I sent it in like about 2-3 weeks ago at the beginning of April.

And that’s cool San Pablo was my second choice.

Did you already submit your housing deposit?

Yea because I wasn’t sure if they would be able to assign housing without the deposit.

I lived in Hassayampa Phase II for my first semester. They really are the best rooms (Phase I is practically the same) on campus. As far as environment, it’s pretty much the same as the other dorms on ASU campus. Some kids loved to study, some kids loved to play games, and some kids loved to drink. Mostly everyone that I met in Hassayampa enjoyed their experience. Community assistants can be really hit or miss, but most stay out of your business and/or become your friend. I moved out early just because I felt it was a ripoff and moved into my own apartment for less, but I still get around to stopping by the dorms. The social experience in the dorms is worth it, for a while at least.

I only know a little bit about Best Hall from my best friends living there. All I can say is that it gets the job done of having a place to sleep. The bathrooms are always dirty, but that’s public bathrooms in general. If you have a problem with germs or you’re stuck-up at all, it isn’t for you. Everyone there was really laid-back.

i got my email saying i am in the barrett honors dorms in North Sage! I think we dont find out our actual room-type and roommate until the summer though! I am so excited! :D

I was admitted into the Ira A. Fulton school of engineering and from what I’ve read, all engineering students are supposed to live in the Engineering Residential Community in Palo Verde main. I just sent in my housing license agreement and am waiting for the housing preferences to become available. Is it possible to switch to another residential community, or am I required to stay with the pre-determined housing?

I received my housing room number, and I dont completely understand it. If it is A0123, which floor is it on and what does the A mean?

The A0, as far as I have been able to discern (I’m currently a freshman), means absolutely nothing, or at least nothing important to you. My room listing had that too. And mine for next year also has it, and I’m living in a different building, though same complex. You’re in 123, so first floor.

Yeah. I have found a loophole. If you have mobile internet capabilities and can get onto the myASU mobile app, you can login and see your room assignment, number, roommates and suitemates. I’m in Palo Verde West (which is most definitely not what I asked for…) room A0223 or something and my roommate is Taylor Smith (nice and vague) and my suitemates are Madison and Madelyn. That would be kinda funny… Lindsay and Taylor and Maddie and Maddie.

I requested to change my room though, and after not receiving an email reply, I called in today to make sure they got my request.
The lady I spoke with said that they did have my request and that I might not know my assignment until the end of June at the latest (geezus!)

However, I went to look up this information to double check and now it says “Housing Information is Unavailable.” I was able to check this this morning.
Maybe they’re moving on my request for once.

Mine went to unavailable too so it seems more that they figured out it displayed info and got rid of it. Turns out I’m in Agave which is awesome, the Honors College is really nice.

tim10, yeah the honors college is very nice. I am in Sage North and I found out my room is a single room/shared bath. The funny thing is that I have never even seen the regular, older dorms so I can never compare barrett vs. regular ASU dorms. I just can’t wait to find out who my roommate is and my room number! i heard hassay. is nice too.

Whatttt you got a single? Lucky haha

yea I did! I know its not the total “college experience” of having a room mate but I am really heavy on having my own space. plus its not like I can ignore the girl I will be sharing a bathroom with for the next year so I like to say I still technically have a roommate!

Yep so technically it’s a roommate with another room. lol
